Radisson Parks Clean up Day in Austin

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

I think this was a great event!  I had a lot of fun and the place looked great after everyone was finished!  Clean Scapes Landscaping was amazing and worked well with the inexperienced workers :) some of them were very funny.  But they did a great job!

Our employees participated in the Parks Clean up Day in Austin. That is one way we give back at the Radisson!!!

Local Businesses Pitch in For Spring Cleaning in the Park, Bat Watching Preparation

Employees today will donate their time to assist with a spring cleaning effort.

On Tuesday, April 3, employees with Clean Scapes, Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown & T.G.I. Friday’s® will donate their time to assist the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department, The Trail Foundation and The Austin Parks Foundation with a spring cleaning effort .  The clean-up will take place around the Congress Avenue Bridge east to the Brazos Cul de Sac in time for the start of spring and Bat Watching season.

“Clean Scapes is proud to volunteer our time and resources for this important clean-up effort,” said Ivan Giraldo, co-owner of Clean Scapes. “We recognize that warmer, spring-like weather will only attract more visitors to the hike and bike trails and to prime bat-watching areas, such as backyard at the Radisson hotel, which is part of the Hike and Bike Trail. We want to ensure everyone gets a beautiful view.”

It is estimated that more than 100,000 people come to see the bats under the Congress Avenue Bridge.

“We recognize that the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department has many parks and trails they must maintain,” explained Tom Schurr, general manager for the Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown. “Radisson, T.G.I. Friday’s and Clean Scapes are proud to partner with the city to help maintain our beautiful parks and trails to keep Austin one of the most beautiful cities in the country.”

Improvements will include simple clean-up to more involved trail repairs. About 50 volunteers are expected to participate.

“Austin Parks & Recreation believes that our success depends on the support and assistance of community and business partners as stewards of their parks system,” said Brian Block, development administrator for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. “Partnerships bring volunteer labor and private resources, but they also build ownership and encourage enthusiasm like the Radisson and Clean Scapes have for Austin parks and trails.”

The trail and park spring cleaning will take place behind the Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin Downtown located at 111 East Cesar Chavez Street at Congress. A BBQ lunch for the volunteers will follow the clean-up effort.

The Value of Beautifull Memories

Friday, February 24th, 2012

What is value?  The high regard and revere held by one; the importance or preciousness of something.  I believe that beauty and value are personal things.
A moment lasts all of a second, but the memory lives on forever!  That memory is valuable to most but over time it can seem hard to find some of these very precious memories. They are there but not always easy to find, right? We take time to treasure the tears, treasure the laughter, that amazing smile, that little mischievous look that you have seen her make since she was a baby…and most importantly, treasure the memories. I think memories are like a time machines. They can take us back. Someday many years from now we’ll sit beside the candles glow exchanging story’s about our past and laughing as the memories flow.  Photography is the world’s most popular hobby. We use it to document family milestones,  beauty, to reveal the ugliness of war and we of course stalk celebrities. But Photography has changed the world and the way we can share those special moments from our past. Photography has completely changed how we perceive ourselves and the world.  Photography has completely changed the world, our lives and our opinions on things, because it’s not just a picture on a piece of paper it is the ability to capture images beyond words. There are very few things ever created by man that have impacted the entire world quite like photography has! It can record people and things like nothing else. Is that value?
I love seeing my little girl grow up.  Even though I’m right there watching I still feel as if I am missing parts because it seems like every time I turn around she has out grown her clothes again.   My point is I love art, I love my memories, I love having the ability to turn my memories into art for all to enjoy for life!  And for me that’s: The high regard and revere held by one; the importance or preciousness of something.
